Caldicott Guardian
The Trust’s Caldicott Guardian
The Dame Fiona Caldicott Report in 1997 recommended that "A senior person, preferably a health professional, should be nominated in each health organisation to act as a guardian, responsible for safeguarding the confidentiality of patient information."
Here at the Trust maintaining patient confidentiality is very important to us. Our appointed Caldicott Guardian is Mr Andy Beeby who is responsible for the protection of patient confidentiality throughout the Trust in accordance with service users' rights:-

- To justify the purpose for using confidential information;
- To only use data when absolutely necessary;
- To use only the minimum amount of data required;
- To give access only on a strict need-to-know basis;
- To understand your responsibilities (Code of Confidentiality);
- To understand and comply with the law;
- To understand that the duty to share information can be as important as the duty to protect patient confidentiality.
