Battery replacement
Hearing aid batteries are available from QE Gateshead's Audiology reception desk without appointment.
Local health centres also stock supplies of batteries; download a list below or contact your audiologist on 0191 445 2718.

Batteries can also be obtained by post by sending a stamped addressed envelope (large packet) with your details to the following address: Audiology department, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Avenue, Sheriff Hill, Gateshead, NE9 6SX.
- You will always need to produce your record book/battery card when obtaining batteries. Someone can collect batteries on your behalf, as long as they bring your record book/battery card.
- Batteries generally last between 10-14 days, there will be exceptions to the rule. In most cases you will hear a beeping sound to let you know that the battery needs changing.
- If you bring your used hearing aid batteries to the QE Gateshead Audiology department we will recycle them for you.
