Blaydon Urgent Treatment Centre is now an appointment only service.

The publicis being asked to do their bit to help the NHS by not just turning up to be seen.

Please do your bit and contact 111, a GP or pharmacy in the first instance when you need help – if you turn up at Blaydon Urgent Treatment Centre without a pre-booked timeslot you may be redirected to a different service.

The centre offers assessment and treatment for health conditions, such as:

  • Minor burns or scalds;

  • Minor head injury;

  • Eye infections or minor eye injuries;

  • Suspected broken bones, sprains & strains (Please note: X-ray services are open 8am-8pm and are only available for certain areas of the body, ie knee to foot and shoulder to fingers. We cannot carry out back/chest/hip/neck X-rays. We cannot carry out X-rays on children under two years old.)

The walk in centre is not appropriate for:

  • Acute chest pain or shortness of breath

  • Non-urgent treatment that could be treated by your GP

  • Routine services such as blood tests or wound dressing / suture removal

  • Second opinions after a patient has seen their own GP

  • Please note: We do not offer a sexual health service at this centre.

For minor health problems such as coughs & colds you can obtain advice and over-the-counter treatments from a pharmacist.
