Blaydon urgent treatment centre

Blaydon Urgent Treatment Centre is now an appointment only service - and the public is being asked to do their bit to help the NHS by not just turning up to be seen.

With the busy winter period ahead, coupled with the need to protect people from COVID-19 , it is more important than ever that there aren’t large volumes of people in clinics and hospitals when they could have been cared for elsewhere.

Please do your bit and contact 111, a GP or pharmacy in the first instance when you need help – if you turn up at Blaydon Urgent Treatment Centre without a pre-booked timeslot you may be redirected to a different service.

This is to ensure your safety, as well as making sure you get the right treatment in the most appropriate place.

Andrew Beeby, medical director at Gateshead Health NHS, said: "The public in Gateshead has been amazing in their response to help us minimise the chance of people catching and spreading coronavirus. We thank them for their help and co-operation at this challenging time.

"By contacting 111 first, the public will have the best choice to access safe, convenient and expert medical care and advice while avoiding queues, busy waiting areas and the unintended risk of spreading coronavirus to their loved ones."
