Please note the walk in centre at Blaydon will close until further notice from Saturday 28th March at 10pm. If you have a minor injury or minor illness and feel you need to be seen you can attend the Walk in Centre at the Jubilee Wing at the Queen Elizabeth hospital.


Blaydon Urgent Treatment Centre is the walk in centre for Gateshead and the surrounding areas. 

Here are 10 things you need to know about Blaydon Urgent Care Centre:

  1. Blaydon Urgent Treatment Centre is a walk in centre for Gateshead, based on Shibdon Road in Blaydon.

  2. It is a nurse-led unit for patients with minor injuries and illnesses.

  3. The walk-in service at Blaydon is open from 8am till 10pm, 7 days a week

  4. Last year, the centre saw 26,000 patients come through its doors.

  5. The centre offers assessment and treatment for health conditions, such as minor burns or scalds, minor head injury, eye infections or minor eye injuries, suspected broken bones, sprains & strains.

  7. Blaydon is part of our emergency care team, overseen by matron Debbie Bell.

  8. It is staffed by specially-trained nurse practitioners, staff nurses and healthcare assistants.
