Gateshead nurse nominated for hero award

Posted on Tue, 20/11/2012

COMMUNITY Midwife Mandy Brown has been nominated for an NHS hero award by a grateful patient.

Mandy’s patient said: “Even though it’s been a while since I had my last baby, I’ve never forgotten how lovely, encouraging and helpful Mandy was; she also went the extra mile to help my sister when she was pregnant even though she was not her patient. Mandy made me feel like I was doing a fantastic job as a mum!”

Mandy, 48 said: “I’m touched that this patient remembered me, and felt moved enough to nominate me for the award. I’ve worked for QE Gateshead for 17 years now, but I’ve been a midwife for 25, and coming in to work is always rewarding. Everything I do is for our patients and I’m honoured to receive a hero award. It’s always nice to get patient feedback, even more so when it’s as positive as this.”
