New videos give patients more choice
Posted on Thu, 05/09/2019Patients coming to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead for a joint replacement can now find helpful advice and information about their surgery whenever and wherever they choose.
Two new videos are available on YouTube, which are designed to give patients more time and choice on how they prepare themselves for their joint replacement surgery.
The first video, Information about your joint replacement, gives a run through of what to expect during the surgery journey, including tips on how best to prepare and which members of staff patients will meet pre- and post-operation. It features a consultant surgeon, anaesthetist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist and other staff.
The second video is a testimonial from Walter, a patient who came to the hospital for a hip replacement.
Katherine Armstrong, Joint Care Co-ordinator, says: "In the run-up to joint replacement surgery there’s a lot of information that we need to convey to patients. These easily accessible videos are designed to allow patients to digest the important information at their leisure before they come to our hospital, as well as once they get home and are in recovery."
