Gateshead Recovery Partnership donated hampers to Emergency and Urgent Care

Gateshead Recovery Partnership came to visit our Emergency and Urgent Care Team to deliver hand made donations for staff in time for Christmas.

Gateshead Recovery Partnership came to visit our Emergency and Urgent Care Team to deliver handmade donations for staff in time for Christmas.

Gateshead Recovery Partnership is a Drug and Alcohol Service who have been working with group of individuals as part of their rehabilitation with focus on the psychological side of their addiction.  The group wanted to do something nice to say thank you to the Emergency Care Staff who had provided treatment and support during their addiction in one way or another.

A small number of the group delivered their donations of a hamper which included chocolates and individual token bags inside that have messages of meaning to the individuals of the group along with a thank you card.

Clare Drummond, Charitable Funds Manager, thanked the group, not only for this lovely gesture thanking the staff who have supported them, but also for their bravery coming back to our Emergency Care Centre whereby for many of the group, this brought back memories of a very low point in their lives, but it was so very moving to hear their amazing achievements on their journey to recovery.

Mark Dale, Service Line Manager for Urgent and Emergency Care and Fund Manager for the Urgent and Emergency Care Charitable Fund said “it was great to welcome the group to the department and for some of the staff to have a short period of time away from the pressure of the department, to see their continued hard work reflected in a very kind and thoughtful gift”

Linda Howe Alcohol Care Navigator for Urgent and Emergency Care said “it was wonderful to meet the group, to receive their kind gifts and talk about their achievements and also memories of time spent in the department and to hear about the support and care they received while they were with us and how they felt empowered to make changes as a result. There was at times emotional discussion when we spoke about how they would like to help us to help others who are facing similar challenges and I intend to speak to the group and start working with them soon.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you on behalf of QE Charitable Funds and Urgent & Emergency Care Charitable Fund, for this very meaningful donation which the staff really do appreciate.

Thank you & best wishes
