NHS staff will be giving the Gateshead community an opportunity to go behind the scenes of their local hospital and are inviting people to the Trust’s biggest ever public open day.

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust’s open day will take place on Saturday 29th October, between 11am and 4pm, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital outside the Emergency Care Centre.

The open day will host information stalls run by staff, where visitors can learn all about the amazing work of their local NHS teams. People can meet staff from many different departments including A&E, surgery, research, stroke and many more – including the hospital’s charity, QE Charitable Funds.

There will be lots of entertainment for all the family, including food and drink stands, face-painting, Zumba dancing, henna tattoos…and much more!

Yvonne Ormston, MBE, chief executive at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We look forward to helping our local community understand that we are here for them. We want to show them what we do, what services we provide and how we can support them. We welcome staff, patients, their families and the general public to book a ticket to enjoy the free activities we have on offer and take away a better understanding of the staff and services the NHS provides for you in Gateshead.”
