Hello and welcome to QE Stories, the new blog space for news, views and information about healthcare in Gateshead.

I hope that these posts will help share our collective stories about the NHS in Gateshead, by hearing from everyone who works in the system, providing different services and caring for patients every day.

We've lined up posts from doctors, nurses, health professionals and other people working in the hospital or around the community to give you a unique view of how the NHS works. These posts will offer a fantastic insight into the lives of the people who work around the clock to help you when you're ill and highlight some of the less well known roles in the NHS. Blogs are an excellent way of sharing information, exchanging views and starting a genuine conversation and I hope you find them interesting, inspirational and at times challenging - I know I have.

Engagement is a very important part of what we do as an NHS trust and we know that patients who feel they have been communicated with properly will ultimately feel more satisfied. It's also important that people have the right information, understand what we can offer and have an ongoing dialogue with us, which is why we work hard to ensure we are providing communications through the right channels and in the most convenient way. Increasingly that means using things like blogs or social media to talk to our communities in the way they prefer. You can find out more about how we use social media and our other communications channels.

We're also interested in hearing from our patients, partners and anyone else involved in the healthcare system in Gateshead so if you'd like to contribute a blog please do get in touch by emailing me or leaving a comment below.
