Hospital update

Posted on Mon, 15/05/2017

On Friday the NHS suffered a cyber attack which caused disruption to IT systems across the country. Although Gateshead wasn't one of the trusts affected directly, we have taken a number of precautions to protect our own IT systems.

Patients should attend appointments as normal unless you have been contacted directly as we are currently running hospital services as usual.

IT staff have been working around the clock to update and secure our systems but please bear with us as the recovery continues as there may be some delays.

Because of the continuing issues with NHS IT across the North East and in Primary Care we expect the hospital to be busier than normal so please use services responsibly.

Please think carefully before attending A&E and keep it free for the most serious or life threatening conditions. If you do feel unwell then contact:

  • Your community pharmacist
  • Your local GP
  • NHS 111
