Thank you to our inspirational Great North Run team

John Maddison, group director of finance at QE Gateshead, thanks everyone who took part in the Great North Run this year to raise vital funds for the hospital.

Well done and thank you on behalf of the Trust to everyone in TeamQE, our official Great North Run team, for a fantastic effort this weekend. Thanks also to everyone who sponsored them or went along on the day to show your support.

TeamQE included staff, families and friends of the hospital all raising thousands of pounds for the important work of QE Charitable Funds  - the official charity of QE Gateshead.  The team included 35 runners taking part in the challenging half marathon, as well as four additional runners doing the Junior and Mini Great North Runs.

QE Charitable Funds aims to raise money to provide additional comforts, care or experiences for patients and their families beyond that which the NHS provides. Every runner taking part in the GNR for us selected a hospital department that is close to their hearts for their fundraising, ranging from the chemotherapy unit and St Bede’s Hospice to the Special Care Baby Unit and IVF. All of the money they have raised makes a huge difference to the Trust and is especially important at a time when NHS services nationally are all facing unprecedented financial pressures.

Thank you once again to our inspirational team and amazing supporters – every penny raised helps people right here in Gateshead. We are extremely proud of each and every one of them – you can read more about their inspiring stories on our Charitable Funds Facebook and Twitter pages.

If you have an idea that could raise money for QE Charitable Funds, or for more information on the charity, you can email the team on ghnt.charitablefunds@nhs.net
