Cragside launch Carer's Hub

Posted on Mon, 18/02/2019

Cragside Court hosted a special Time to Talk and Carer’s Hub in the newly refurbished family hub on the 7th February, in honour of Time to Talk day.

Time to Talk Day which is hosted every year, encourages everyone to talk about mental health and break the stigma.

This year, the theme was all about bringing together the right ingredients, to have a conversation about mental health. Whether that’s tea, biscuits and close friends or a room full of people challenging mental health stigma, to get people talking.

Staff on Cragside set up the family hub and encouraged staff members to come along and have a chat over a cup of tea and a cake to support wellbeing in the workplace.
Relatives were also invited to come along if they wanted some advice and support on how to care for those dealing with dementia.

Cragside Carer’s Hub runs the last Thursday of each month and is lead and supported by Occupational Therapist, Rachel Johnson and Activity Facilitator, Linda Brennan. There is a monthly agenda and there are topics each month which includes outside agencies’ sessions and talks from our activities facilitator on the use of therapeutic activity and the Trust chaplaincy service.

The next Carer’s Hub will be held on Thursday 28th February.
