Nurses take over social media

Posted on Tue, 14/05/2019

To celebrate international nurse day and help with the NHS recruitment drive we handed over the official QE social media profiles to Gateshead nurses yesterday.

The lead nurse for recruitment Vicky Jobson was in charge of the first ever social takeover day in Gateshead Health which helped us engage with almost 2,500 people.

During the day Vicky shared updates, pictures, blogs and videos from right across hospital and community services, showcasing all the different types of nursing roles in the NHS. This led to hundreds of comments, likes and shares by the public who got a unique behind the scenes look at life as a Gateshead nurse.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, shared pictures or commented during the day online. The idea was to offer more insight into nursing in Gateshead and celebrate our teams contribution at the time of International Nursing Day.

The day was a big celebration of the role of nurses in Gateshead and showed a real pride in the profession, which we hope gave the public a real insight into their work.

With a national shortage of nurses currently proving problematic for the NHS it is hoped the initiative also inspired people to work in Gateshead or become a nurse in the future. The number of people looking at our content on social increased by 94.5% so it proved a really successful day.

If you weren’t able to join in on the day you can see a selection of the pictures here or you can look back down the newsfeed on our Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts here:
