Chaplain has best read blog of the year

Posted on Tue, 24/12/2019 by Joan Robinson

Well done to one of our Chaplains Joan Robinson who had the best read blog post on our website during 2019.

QE Stories is our blog space for news, views and information about healthcare in Gateshead and Joan managed to attract loads of interest from the public and staff, winning the prize as the best read author of 2019.

The blogs are designed to showcase the people who help make the health system work for the public, patients and families in Gateshead.

Joan’s blog explained more about the varied role of a hospital chaplain and was read by almost 1,500 people.

We launched the blogs as a way of sharing more personal stories about the NHS in Gateshead and thousands of people have taken the time to read them, making it one of the most popular areas of the website.

It was designed to be a less formal place where staff could share their collective stories about the NHS in Gateshead, by hearing from everyone who works in the system, providing different services and caring for patients every day.

Joan said: “I’m really pleased that so many people have been reading the blog and leaving comments on social media. It’s great that patients and staff get to see more about us and understand what we do across the hospital and wider community.

Head of communications and marketing Ross Wigham said: “Joan’s blog was a really interesting read, shining a light on a role that many people may be unaware of in the NHS. You could feel the warmth of feeling towards the Chaplaincy team from all the comments and well wishes we received online. A big well done to Joan and everyone who took the time to write a blog this year.”
