radiology team out on their runs

The Trust’s radiology team are celebrating after successfully completing the Great Run Solo – and raising vital funds for the hospital’s charity.

Great Run Solo is a virtual running challenge, designed to help keep runners on track until the next Great North Run is organised.

The radiography team completed it as a group in February and raised more than £1500 for QE Charitable Funds. Now Katie Kiely, radiographer, is encouraging other people to give it a go.

She said: "We found it great fun and a positive impact on not only our physical health but mental wellbeing as well. Then we received the email at work about raising money for the QE Charitable funds which we thought was an excellent cause to fundraise for the hospital and it just escalated from there, more staff joined from the Radiology team and away we went!

"I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of giving it a go! We've continued our runs for March and are aiming for 15 runs each over the month. On days when you might not feel like getting out and running your team is always there to help motivate you and support you. We always say we feel so much better for just getting out no matter how fast or far you go!"

Clare King, charitable funds officer, said: "It is lovely to see a team coming together to not only raise funds, but to boost team morale. It’s easy to sign up so if you want to get fit, raise money and boost team spirit, get in touch!"
