Dr Jeremy Killen

Dr Killen studied medicine at Cambridge University. After training in General and Respiratory medicine in Hereford and Bristol he moved to the North East to continue his specialist training and was then appointed as a consultant at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.Dr Killen is an expert in all areas of respiratory medicine with particular interest in Asthma, COPD and lung cancer. He leads our lung cancer service.  

 

 

Dr Robert Allcock

Dr Allcock studied medicine with engineering at Cambridge University and qualified in medicine from Oxford University in 1992. He moved to the North East in 1993 to train in general medicine, specialising in respiratory medicine.  In 1995-6 he worked in New Zealand and subsequently also spent 6 months working in General Practice in 1998.  He became a consultant  at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2004. Dr Allcock has particular interests in Lung Fibrosis, Pulmonary Hypertension, Thromboembolism and Asthma. 

 

Sister Jane Rams

Sister Rams trained in nursing in Newcastle specialising in Respiratory medicine.  She joined the Queen Elizabeth hospital as sister on Ward 4 in 2005.  She has mentored and developed a highly skilled, compassionate team of nurses and health care assistants, whilst leading the hospital's progress in eliminating waste by finding new ways to be better organised in the way we provide care.  Her ward was recently praised by the Care Quality Commission for the excellence of the care provided.

 

Dr Helen Curtis

Dr Dr Curtis studied medicine at Newcastle University, and trained in Respiratory and Intensive Care Medicine throughout the North East of England. She became a consultant at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2009 working across Respiratory Medicine and Intensive Care. She has particular interests in Pleural Ultrasound, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Lung Cancer and Non-invasive ventilation. 

 

 

Dr Salem Elarbi

Dr Elarbi trained in respiratory medicine in the Yorkshire region. He established the non-invasive ventilation service at QE hospital and continues to lead in this area.  He is an expert in all areas of respiratory medicine and also contributes to the team of consultants leading our acute medical admissions unit.
