St Bede’s Unit

St Bede’s is our palliative care unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where we care for patients at various stages of their illness providing symptom management, respite care and end-of-life care.

About the service

St Bede’s is a ten bedded unit with eight single ensuite rooms and one two-bedded ensuite room.

We offer complementary therapy to patients and their relatives which includes aromatherapy, Indian head massage, reflexology and reiki, delivered by qualified staff from Lifespan. We also have a clinical psychologist who can help with coping strategies for patients and relatives, as well as emotional support.

The unit is based at the QE and is near the Accident and Emergency department, you can follow the signs for Elmwood building to find it.

Our unit is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has open visiting, which means our patients can receive visitors at any time.
