Simulation Faculty Training – Train the Trainer

The healthcare professionals introduction to simulation training from a trainers perspective; a practical exposure to simulation training methods and equipment for the new, or experienced, educator who is to become involved in simulation training in the health care environment.

By the end of the course you will be aware the rationale for using simulation as an educational approach in Healthcare. You will also be exposed to the operational aspects of simulation and audiovisual recording equipment in our state of the art simulation training facility and you will be able demonstrate the use of a structured approach to simulation scenarios, reflective analysis and insight into facilitating a debrief.

  • Introduction:  aims objectives, expectations and confidentiality
  • Simulation:  Why use simulation and the role of human factors training in healthcare.
  • Scenario design: a guide to writing successful simulation scenarios.
  • Debriefing: How to facilitate a debrief.
  • Scenarios:  practical exposure to scenarios as a candidate, a simulation facilitator, and as a lead in the debriefing process.

Aimed at Clinicians who have, or are developing, a training element to their role that requires the use of simulation methods and/or equipment to put into practice. This course is aimed at those who will take part in simulation training as part of the course faculty and should be considered as an introductory step into simulation training.
