Staff Governors

The Trust has six staff governors, who are elected by staff to sit on the Council of Governors and represent staff views.

They can pass on your ideas on a variety of issues such as how services could be improved, how to enhance patient care or how to improve the working lives of staff.

I have worked at the Queen Elizabeth hospital since 1997 and was one of the first Staff governors in this trust when we became a foundation trust. I really enjoyed the role and now feel even more passionate about making sure our hospital is delivering high quality and safe care. To be a centre for excellence it is vital that Staff who work here have a voice to ensure that they can influence the high standards of care given to the patients at Gateshead.

I started out as a cadet nurse at the QE in 2003 and have been lucky enough to meet and work with many inspiring colleagues who prioritise patients and ensure they are at the heart of everything we do. I believe the staff are what makes Gateshead Health Foundation Trust great, they aspire to deliver high quality safe care everyday. They deliver care with compassion and kindness. I think it is important our staff have a voice to contribute towards continuous improvement and support the implementation of our Trust vision, I would love to have the opportunity to facilitate this.
