Thank You to Gateshead NHS

Posted on Fri, 11/12/2020

Today marks the first day of the very first Thank You Week for NHS staff in Gateshead, which will run from the 14th-21st December 2020.

This week is about celebrating and thanking all our staff and volunteers from across the Trust for their hard work and dedication during the Covid-19 pandemic and to provide colleagues with the opportunity to thank and celebrate each other for everything they've done during this time.

Each member of staff will receive a small token of our appreciation from the Trust with a voucher during Thank You Week.

And we’re also encouraging everyone to send a message of thanks to someone from Gateshead NHS Trust who has made a difference to them on our social media channels.

Yvonne Ormston, MBE, chief executive at Gateshead Health NHS Trust, said: "I am so proud of what we have achieved this year and I feel humbled to work alongside so many incredible people.

As a small token of our gratitude, we wanted to dedicate a week to thanking staff and volunteers across the Trust.

It’s an opportunity for each of us to stop and recognise the amazing things people have done this year – each and every member of staff has gone above and beyond to provide excellent care to the residents of Gateshead, as well as support their colleagues and look after their NHS family.

In March, we were faced with possibly the biggest challenge any of us have ever seen in the NHS. We had to make huge changes to our services, our care and our workforce in a matter of hours, days and weeks.

Through it all, our staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly in challenging and worrying circumstances to ensure we could still safely care for our patients and support each other in the response to COVID-19.

We’d be so grateful if both the public and staff would share their stories, their experiences and their expressions of gratitude to someone who has made a difference to them during this most challenging of years.”
