A day in the life of an NHS matron

Posted on Wed, 13/12/2017

This week we joined Matron Aileen Rooney to take a look behind the scenes of the hospital in her role as Theatre & Critical Care Matron.

Aileen works in an area of the hospital that very few people get to see and she kindly agreed to let the communications team shadow her for a day and document her work for this new video blog.

We created a photo gallery that highlights the work of a unique part of an NHS hospital, showing a different side of some of the people who work here and the environment where they help patients every day.

Shot in black and white to give a slightly different perspective than usual, it includes portraits from across the organisation as well as people going about their usual working day in the NHS.

This photo gallery is the latest in a series of blogs called QE Stories, a new forum where you can learn more about QE Gateshead and discuss how we work behind the scenes to provide excellent healthcare for you and your family.
