Younger Persons Dementia service
The Younger Persons Dementia Service (YPDS) provides specialist community outreach and day hospital support services for people under the age of 65 years who have a diagnosis of a dementia, and their families or carers.
Opening hours are 8.00–16.00hrs Monday to Friday.
The service is predominantly nurse-led with input from a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist. We work in partnership with our Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), Occupational Therapists (OT’s) and Psychologists.
Everyone who uses this service will be given the opportunity to choose the type of activities they would like to participate in. These activities include;

Woodwork

Cookery

Quizzes and topical discussions

Group outings for men and women

Relaxation exercise groups

Beauty therapy
Patients will have a named nurse and associate nurse based at the unit who will be responsible for all aspects of the care package.
